How many times have we heard from our clients, “I can’t believe I waited so long to do this!”?  We get it!  No one truly enjoys the disruption created by renovating or redecorating.  Whether the aggravation, expense or both, more often than not, good enough is good enough.  But, as effortless as it is to do nothing, you know all those things you’ve always wanted to do (to your house)?  YOU SHOULD GO DO THEM!

“Change” is definitely a four-letter word for many people.  Human beings are creatures of habit and routine is comfortable.  It’s easy to become complacent in our daily routines, including the way our homes look and function.

All too often, and for various reasons, homeowners live with decor that becomes more and more dated, year by year.  Before they know it, they’ve become blind to their own environment.  Their home has become so outdated that, if they do happen to think about updates, they quickly feel so overwhelmed, they remain frozen, doing nothing.

Of course, change is the only real constant in our lives.  And life has a way of forcing us to change whether we like it or not.  Many homeowners make the mistake of waiting until they’re ready to sell to take a good, hard look at their homes.  By then, the necessary updates are an expensive chore they resent rather than getting to enjoy for themselves.

Smart owners understand your home is never truly done.  You and your decor are always evolving and changing, whether by personal taste or new decorating trends.  Setting a goal to improve or update at least one or two spaces in your home every year will, not only, give you something to look forward to and enjoy.  It will also keep your home from becoming so dated you’re afraid to change anything.

Life during a pandemic has been a wake up call for many that home is and should be a priority.  Home is our only real sanctuary in a busy and somewhat hostile world.  The moral of the story: put yourself and your home first.   You have to share the rest of the world with everyone else.  But, your home is YOURS!

In this season of Tricks & Treats, don’t be tricked into putting off all those things you’ve always wanted to do in your home.  Treat yourself and GO DO THEM!
