The bitter winter weather has everyone feeling blue this time of year. Few parts of the country have been left untouched. Maybe that’s part of the inspiration for almost every major retailers spring roll out. Blue! Blue! Blue!
Shaking things up a bit, this year’s blues are fresh and crisp. And while we’ve all loved the popular pastel and dusty blues paired with neutrals like brown and gray, this year’s palette features vibrant blues and teals paired with jewel tones of lime green, royal purple yellow and more.
Of course, blues always play perfectly into coastal and beach themed rooms. But if you’re in the Midwest and asking yourself where these colors work into your decor, consider:
Warm neutrals that trend toward gold or cream come alive with a splash of blue whether it’s in window fashions, pillows, rugs and throws. Every room can benefit from the fresh and lively blues like the ones we’re seeing this season. Add these updated blues in your kitchen or bath towels. New throw pillows or an area rug will inject this trend into your living room. And don’t forget new coverings for the master or guest beds.
One word of advice… avoid adding blues if your wall colors or furniture trend toward the red/orange side of the color wheel.
So, turn those winter blues upside down and add some of these fantastic blues to your decor this spring. Think of blue as your pastel for spring
