A well thought out and executed decorating project takes time.  And the bigger the project, the longer it takes to bring everything together.  Patience is truly a virtue when you’re decorating.  Especially if you have a new-to-you home that needs your touch in every room to make it your own.  We’ve recently been working with a great family in Huntley to do just that.

Decorating an entire house takes time and should!  Rushing through a decorating project results in what I call “Accidental Decorating Disorder”.   Sure…things come together.  But, hurried choices look haphazard and amateurish.   And while it’s nice to be done quickly, the fact of the matter, it takes time to plan, source, order and install six rooms of furniture, art, window fashions, rugs, and accessories.

I know….you’re asking yourself who has the time to raise young kids, work full time and still have time to plan, shop, (return bad stuff a gazillion times) and still decorate?  Well, these busy parents and professionals were smart enough to ask for help saving them both time and money.  The results are spectacular if I do say so myself.

As you can tell from the Before photos, this project started just after the holidays.  Working with the existing flooring, cabinets and counters, we took our cues from the few pieces the homeowners had already selected.  After several discussions, we were able to formulate a detailed description of what they liked and envisioned for their spaces and how they intended to use them.

Next, we chose paint colors to warm up the builder white walls and tie the open concept floor plan together.  Complimentary Sherwin Williams™ colors  Tony Taupe, Balanced Beige, Accessible Beige, Taupe Tone and Smokehouse offered color transitions throughout the home without making it feel choppy and disjointed.  While the painting was being completed, we set to work sourcing new or additional furniture, lighting and all the other “goodies” for almost every room in the home.

After everything was delivered and lots of it assembled by a very patient homeowner, our team descended on the home to place and style the rooms all in ONE day.  From living room to dining room, family room to kitchen, home office to foyer, powder room to master bedroom and bath…. all the rooms finally were given the personality the homeowners wanted for their family.

Just about any kid will tell you waiting for Santa on Christmas morning seems to take an excruciatingly long time.  And while this family had to wait 4 months to get all they wanted for Christmas, I think it was well worth the wait.

If you have a “Christmas” wish list of your own, we can help!  Give us a call at 815-245-2433 or send a message via our website.  Happy Decorating!
