“No decorating project is too small to make a difference.” I’ve been singing that tune forever. Every space offers its own opportunities to bring out personality, comfort, and function. I’ve learned to appreciate that even the smallest changes can dramatically improve a space. And even though I’m sometimes asked to revisit a space that was “finished” years ago, reworking and updating a space can be just as rewarding as starting from scratch.
Take this recent office update, for example. After switching to a larger corner office, my client wanted help “moving in”. While we weren’t starting from scratch, he asked for help pulling together what had already been decided as well as focusing on the finishing touches. By adding a cocktail table, replacing some mismatched guest chairs, introducing greenery and accents plus installing private racing-themed artwork to personalize the space, we completed the office without a major overhaul.

We’ve also recently completed refreshing two guest bedrooms for a client who wanted some updates. While we’d purchased new furnishings a few years ago, the rooms had gradually become muddled, for one reason or another, and needed some love. Linked by a shared Jack & Jill full bath, each bedroom had it’s own personality but we still wanted to tie all three spaces together with common elements.
The first bedroom had a more “organic” vibe: natural woods, warm colors, fun textures and lighting created a peaceful escape. We simply needed tie everything together with new artwork, a few accents and bedding.

The other guest room, while still cozy, trended a bit cooler and more sophisticated with greige walls, upholstered bed, leather recliner and wood tiled 3-drawer dresser nightstands. This room was only missing art and accents to really show off the client’s personality.

All three spaces started out with the basics. But with the right details, they each became something special. Great design doesn’t always mean starting from scratch. Sometimes, just updating a few things, whether it’s a piece of furniture, new artwork, updated decor or even just rearranging what you already have—can breathe new life into a space.
Whether it’s a workspace or a bedroom, it’s those thoughtful, little details that really make a space feel like you.
