I don’t believe there is anything mysterious or pretentious about interior decorating or design. At least there shouldn’t be. Whether you have a tiny studio apartment in the city or wander for hours in your suburban McMansion, you deserve to have a home that is perfect for you down to the last detail. Your home is your sanctuary and should reflect your unique sense of taste and personality.
So, when people ask me what I do for a living, I’ve decided to keep it short and sweet and tell them my job is to “fix ugly”. My new vanity plates say just that! And while that could be taken a number of different ways (I’m obviously no plastic surgeon), I hope people appreciate my slightly warped sense of humor! :-)
“Fixing ugly” goes to the core of what I do. It doesn’t matter if I’m staging a home to sell by highlighting its best and camouflaging its worst. Or if I’m redesigning a home reusing the owners existing furniture, art and accessories. Or maybe I’m decorating with new items to update and create a completely new look. All of these speak to the fact that I take those things that are “less than” in a home and make them better. I fix ugly!
We all have “ugly” parts in our lives. Some of them we just have to accept. But, others we can do something about. And my professional mission is to do just that. Take the ugly in someone’s home and make it much prettier with a little know-how and attention to detail.
Helping people discover the hidden beauty in their home is what it’s all about. Every day decorating for every day people takes the pretense out of interior design and that’s what I love most about what I do.
If you need a little help fixing the ugly in your own spaces, give me a call. It’s really more affordable than you might think and can be tailored to fit any budget.
