Divine inspiration comes in many forms. And while I like to believe there just might be Someone watching over and guiding me while I’m decorating, I’ve never felt a ‘divine’ presence more than on a recent job in Huntley, Illinois.

As with many of our decorating projects, this one centers around a young family growing into a newer construction home in the suburbs. Like that new car smell, who doesn’t love the smell of a new house with sparkling, new walls, windows, flooring and all? And while that clean slate offers a ton of design possibilities, those possibilities take a ton of time & money… not to mention patience!

We came into this project with the big stuff already already in place. Neutral paint, furniture, artwork and accessories filled the home. But, it still lacked the “finishing touches” that the owners desperately wanted. After all, coming home to a decorating “to do” list is the last thing anyone needs when juggling kids and a career. Luckily for them, finishing touches just happen to be our specialty!

On installation day, our team descended on this home to put the icing on the cake. And while not exactly miraculous, nine short hours later, the first floor, loft office, guest bedroom, master bedroom and master bath had been transformed. Using what the family already owned and adding in purposeful, new layers, we gave them the look of a model home customized with their treasured belongings.

How does ‘god’ play into this you ask? Well as it turns out, every move the entire day was under the watchful eye of the family’s adorable dog… Zeus. With wags of enthusiasm and licks of approval, divine supervision, in this particular case, came on four legs! And if our work is Zeus-approved, that’s good enough for me!
